I have been suffering from the same random windows 10 freezing issue that many others appear to be. I have been unable to solve it and I need help. I originally upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7 and was stable. Then the anniversary update installed and I’ve had many instances of freezing. I re-installed a fresh win 7 install thinking it was a hardware issue but running with win 7 for a fortnight, doing multiple load tests, I had not a single crash..
I re-installed Win10 on a clean disk and was OK until it downloaded updates including the anniversary update. Straight after that I had problems again. Normally either during start-up or within about 5 minutes of start-up when trying to use it. There appears to be no common program that causes it. Sometimes it hangs on the logon screen. The only way to get control back is to power off the box. Sometimes on the following restart Win 10 will run recovery stuff sometimes not but ultimately comes back to rebooting.
There is nothing listed in the Event log to suggest problems. The only indication there’s been a problem is the message “windows detected an unexpected restart” or words to that effect. Tuning the swap file so it’s not automatically managed but set to windows recommending minimums and maximums. I’d love to get this fixed.
